What are Christians? What do they believe?

The foundation of Christianity has been called "The Greatest Story Ever Told". So it clearly will not be easy to explain in a few words.

Baptists are Christians. Christians believe there is only one God. However we also believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah (the Christ), the fulfilment of the Old Testament prophesies and the anointed Saviour of the World. Jesus was nailed to a cross (crucified) by the Roman forces occupying what is now Israel and Palestine (The Holy Land). The cross, an instrument of cruel execution, eventually became the symbol of Christianity.

On the third day after he was entombed Jesus rose from the dead and lives today. He changed the relationship between God and humanity. A personal relationship with Jesus is open to anyone, everyone. You may ask how a mere human, an insignificant speck in creation, have a relationship with God? Come to church and find out. Start small; attend a service with an open mind and an open heart.
