THE BROTHERHOOD AND SISTERHOOD MOVEMENT .

The Brotherhood & Sisterhood Movement was founded John Blackham in 1875 to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those who did not have any contact with a church. On a railway journey, Blackham met a group of prisoners on day release from Winson Green Prison. He asked them what sort of meeting would appeal to them and they replied "brief bright and brotherly".

Initially the movement was for men. In 1912, the Sisterhood movement was established to develop the work amongst women. Over the years the movement has sought to reach out to people in need. Funds were collected for food parcels for the poor much in the same way as foodbanks today.
We are much smaller than we once were but we still seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ, in small meetings. The movement finds its inspiration in the warmhearted and loving fellowship of members caring for each other and the needy. Our emblem is a vine leaf with "helping hands" .
